The first time we did this tour it seemed like an extension of the Bourbon Trail in KY and the Whisky Trail in TN--just the logical thing to do. It was a great tour so good that we did it again a few years later. We got a welcome drink (the first time rum lemonade and the second time rum iced tea) to sip during our tour, did the tour and found out that the rum is made with locally sourced LA sugar cane molasses. Not only that, we found out that this distillery is housed in a 150 year old former cotton warehouse and was founded by a local artist whose works you can see displayed. We learned some New Orleans history and about the flooding of the site during Katrina. Then on to the tasting. We tried the clear rum, the amber rum aged in bourbon barrels, then my favorite, the spiced rum. Everyone went away happy! We chose to drive to the distillery but I understand you can also take a shuttle. There was plenty of parking and the distillery was easy to find (just follow Frenchmen Street). We really enjoyed our tour with Bob! It was great being able to get the complementary shuttle from nearer where we were staying. The tour itself was really interesting - we came away with a really good understanding of the process. The rums themselves were delicious and the cocktail on arrival was amazing. Would definitely recommend!…

We came to the distillery tour here and could simply NOT get enough of Bob (!!!) This man truly does it all - runs the shuttle, gives the tour and opens people’s eyes to the process of creating the world’s best rum. We had the most wonderful time spending the afternoon learning from him. Don’t sleep on this tour!…
