Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium, located in the U.S. Custom House on Canal Street, encourages you to use all five senses as you explore North America’s largest museum devoted to insects and their relatives. You’ll discover why insects are the building blocks of all life on our planet and along the way, you’ll be shrunk to bug size; wander through a mysterious Louisiana swamp; join the active audience of an awards show for bugs, by bugs; and be captivated by thousands of butterflies in an Asian garden. Voted A top museum for you and your kids by CNN, 2009.

We visited the Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium at the prompting of my teenage daughter. The staff is very friendly and informative. You can see many exhibits of insects both living and preserved. There are quite a few creepy bugs, but my daughter loved it!...More

The insectarium and Butterfly garden is a "quick" stop. This isn't going to take you as long as the zoo or the aquarium. The exhibits are decent, and the setup is nice. The location is excellent being right on Canal St. Personally, we go here...More

The butterfly Exhibit is by far the best think about the place. Go in, sit down and relax as masses amounts of the tiny creatures will gently tickle your nose. I had at least 3 on my at any give time. Priceless.

To get the best bargain, do the Audubon combo for $45. Lots of good displays and educational info on insects, but the best part is the butterfly room at the end. Lots of cool butterflies. Read the web site before you go, as it is...More

Decided to check out this attraction and wasn't disappointed at all. Great write ups of the insects and butterflies. Didn't take a lot of time either. A couple of hours and you'd be satisfied.

Thoroughly enjoyed the insectarium. It was kind of creepy with all the living displays- but also very informative. It was a very nice way to enjoy the morning.

Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other
parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title
might suggest that this area is all about business and
little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you
away from the Central Business District. The CBD
offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be
touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the
world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts
