3,092 reviews
New Orleans is infamous for its spooky past, filled with tales of voodoo, vampires, ghosts, and witches. During this walking tour, save time with a guide who knows the quickest routes around the Big Easy and brings the folklore and history of the city to life, all during the creepiest time of day—the night. Plus, a centrally located meeting point makes for a hassle-free, fun evening.

We stayed at the lovely Olivier House hotel and the staff suggested we go to the Historic New Orleans Collection and while there see the portrait of the Olivier girls in the portrait gallery. We had a nice time just wandering around the exhibits and soaking in the info and just the nice ambiance of the museum.

The Museum was cool! When you enter don't miss the glass covered well! It's only a few feet down an it rises up! The whole area is only few feet above sea level. I learned about Liberty Beach and other things !

We were visiting New Orleans on a tight budget. Our family loves museums and tours, and we have visited them all over the US. Many of the tours in NOLA were cost prohibitive for us, unfortunately. This museum was fabulous and FREE! There must be generous benefactors funding this gem, because it was filled with incredible artifacts, fascinating information and exhibits that we greatly enjoyed. It was spotless, and we all noticed how nice it even smelled inside. The docents were so informed and knowledgeable of their subjects. We loved learning about the historic organ and seeing/hearing the demonstration. It is one of only four functioning organs like that in the US! Wow. So cool. It felt like we were transported back in time. We went to both locations, which were right across the street from each other. We loved the art and the paintings. This was one of my favorite things we did while visiting New Orleans.

There is currently a fascinating photography exhibit featuring industrial locations throughout south Louisiana. And don't miss the French Quarter gallery that shows how the neighborhood developed and includes and an immersive film that covers the 300-year history.
