This place is great. Unparalleled selection of CDs and an impressive selection of local music. There is always something new to discover in the store. The listening stations are good to sample new music. You could spend hours there, browsing their huge collection. Also, we love that they moved to Frenchmen, they fit right in.

My husband and I were in New Orleans for a very quick trip. We're fans of the Jazz Festival and had searched YouTube to catch some of the bands we enjoyed. Louisiana Music Factory has a channel and we have spent hours watching the bands that pass through and they post to their channel. Once in NOLA we found our... More

Louisiana Music Factory is a national treasure. In an era when record shops are dying, LMF is the rare store that has deep inventory of hundreds of bands of every imaginable type. Are you looking for brass band music? They got it. Looking for jazz? They got it. Traditional Cajun. They have that too. If you love music, you must... More

I literally sat there for 90 minutes listening to CDs of local Louisiana blues and jazz. I actually bought a CD- my computer doesn't even have a CD drive. So far on my road trip, I haven't regretted my purchase one bit.

This shop had a well-rounded collection of New Orleans music, as well as enough Jazz, Creole, etc. to satisfy any taste. Besides CDs and records, there were some tasteful (not tacky) gift items, too. I bought some fine photo cards of old New Orleans.

Coming from Canal Street, it was an easy 20 minute walk down Decatur Street. Don't miss the buskers playing Jazz in Jackson Square on the Chartres St end in front of the Cathedral. GREAT jazz with a bunch young high school (?) artists learning from veteran musicians. Fun times Came down from Seattle for business and this was a MUST... More

Best place in the world for New Orleans music. Staff is amazing and quite helpful. I,ve bought at least 200 cds over the last 10 years here. Linda is great to deal with and answers all your questions. I go there everytime I visit this great city. This store a must for all music lovers.

This is where to go to find local musician cds! And tons of vinyl. Prices are fair and the selection is good. I went in there for jazz music... but they have all kinds. They also sell other things besides music... post cards and posters and the like. I definitely recommend stopping in. And don't forget to pet the cat!

This is an excellent place to get lost in and listen to, and buy local music. Their selection of jazz, blues, brass, and other more obscure local genres is quite good. The staff are very knowledgeable, as well, and can answer most questions quickly, or find the answers for you in short order. This is a great stop on the... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
