My wife and I attended a concert here 2 nights ago. It was our first visit to the Joy Theater. This is one of the old movie theaters in New Orleans which has been converted into a live performance venue. We were there for a performance of the music from “The Last Waltz” by numerous musicians based in and around New Orleans. The concert was awesome but this is a review of the facility. We purchased reserved seats in the balcony instead of being on the main floor where it was general admission and no seating. The sound was mixed very well and we could hear everything and everyone very clearly without being blasted out of our socks. Bar service was reasonable and the bathroom were very clean (this made my wife very happy). We would definitely attend another event at The Joy. Our only complaint was with the legroom. We had to get up and walk around a few times to avoid cramping up and avoid knee pain but this will not keep us away.

First - there are seats in the balcony which is the only reason I moved forward with my tickets because I don’t want to stand up all night anymore. I had a great view! It was a bit cold up there so be prepared for that - however I doubt the people on the floor/GA were cold. It was an enjoyable concert venue and I’d certainly see a show there again. You will have to go through security to get in but it was organized and efficient. Bar just inside the doors.

You can tell this place has history. First time coming to a show here and would come back. The only complaint I can think of is it was pretty warm, granted there were a ton of people inside. Just think they should be slightly more prepared for that. But other than that the sound was great, and enjoyed my time.

Loved the theatre and the music. Sound was good. Enjoyed seeing and hearing my favorite musicians.Security was high, pat down, metal detector, and photo ID. The bathrooms were not crowded, parking was easy. I would return.

We saw a great show here - which was a tribute to the late New Orleans singer and songwriter Allen Toussaint. Fantastic band. Historic theater in a gerat location.
