If you plan your day correctly and start here at the Audubon Zoo, you can purchase a pass that allows you to also visit the Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium and the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. I don't take it will save you about $30 overall and entry becomes much easier when you can just show the ticket on... More

I love the song "They All Ask'd for You" and was glad to hear it playing when we entered the zoo, although my daughter had never heard of the song. My daughter is somewhat an expert on Zoos and she loved this one. I was amazed that we saw a lot of animals in a short period of time. The... More

I loved the zoo! It's huge, and the animals look well taken care of. The only downside that I had were all the bees that were flying everywhere. The zoo opened up at 10am and it looked as if the trashcans had not been emptied from the previous day. If they can get that situation fixed, I'd definitely come back!

I highly recommend visiting this zoo while in New Orleans, even though it is a little out of the way from the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter and Bourbon Street. The zoo is massive and offers such a wide variety of animals. My boyfriend and I had such an enjoyable time. Very clean and very well kept. It... More

This great zoo has the happiest animals we ever seen in zoos. The space and devices set for each animal are beautiful and inspiring. Little islands, ropes amusement park and vast places to run in make the animals look joyful and energetic. There is a great variety of animals and absolutely beautiful walks for the visitors. The shop is also... More

The animals and walk ways where very nice, even in the sweaty Summer heat. The water park + fountains in the back helped me stay cool. Then on our last night in town a storm occurred to bid us adieau. It was perfect.

Nice venue as far as zoos go. Located in Audubon park this is an older place but well maintained with excellent displays. We came in from the river off of the James J Audubon river boat. My kids and their friends loved it. Lots of places for refreshments and moderately priced. A good time had by all!!

We visited the zoo on a sunny Thursday. Not too crowded. Weather was perfect so animals were out enjoying the nice weather, too. We bought the group tickets for the zoo, aquarium and insect museum, so that saved our party of 7 a lot of money. The very best thing we experienced at the zoo was the ropes course. Our... More

Compared to other zoos of similar size, the price is very reasonable and variety of animals is impressive. Taking into consideration the weather of New Orleans, the entire area is mostly covered by large shade trees and awnings, with fans and misters placed around to help cool off. There is currently two play areas inside, but looks like a water... More

What a beautiful environment to observe the worlds animals in a naturalistic habitat. 300 year old live oaks frame the paths, exhibits and entry area to provide shade and magestic canopy to all visitors and animals alike.

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
