Went here during our visit to NO. They pick you up at your hotel free and bring you there. A short informative film is shown as well as a sample of King cake. Then a tour of the warehouse of floats and workers making the floats. You can spend as muck time as you want on your own walking thru... More

The impact of the floats goes so far beyond what you thought. The steps to a completed float are fascinating, and you will not believe the eye to detail and craftmanship that is incorporated into each float.

If you have the power pass, for sure go, but make sure you take the free shuttle! If you do not it is $20 per person and not really worth that price! It is cool seeing the floats and how they are made!!

3:15 pm Sitting in Embassy Suite wishing we had something to do that did not involved a lot of planning or activity. Online TripAdvisor found this museum very unlike our usual. A quick call for their pick up service had us enjoying a super interesting Mardi Gras Museum Tour. Our tour included children and those in mid 80's. We've enjoyed... More

I've thought about visiting Mardi Gras World on previous trips to New Orleans. Other things always got in the way and I thought it would just be a warehouse with a bunch of old floats. Thankfully, on this trip to New Orleans, I had the time to visit and it was the highlight of the whole trip. You go through... More

We visited Mardi Gras World on Saturday, February 4th and had a great tour. Their warehouse is filled with floats that will be used in the upcoming Mardi Gras parades and we were able to get up-close and really look at the detail. The tour starts with a quick movie and then a walking tour through their workshop where artists... More

This was so interesting ! I learned so much about the actual Mardi Gras celebration, the Krewes, the balls, & the amazing amount of work and money involved. Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World was one of my favorite stops in New Orleans!

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
