New Orleans Ghost, Voodoo & Vampire Walking Tour

3,096 reviews
New Orleans is infamous for its spooky past, filled with tales of voodoo, vampires, ghosts, and witches. During this walking tour, save time with a guide who knows the quickest routes around the Big Easy and brings the folklore and history of the city to life, all during the creepiest time of day—the night. Plus, a centrally located meeting point makes for a hassle-free, fun evening.

This is just my speed of tourist attraction--lots of great photo opportunities, a minimum of reading, and go at your own pace. Most of the space is devoted to already completed and used float characters, but there are a handful of spots where they were still creating or modifying characters, and the artists may engage with visitors if you have questions. There was a fourteen minute video for orientation to the Mardi Gras parade, with some special attention to the creation of the float characters. Visitors get a thin slice of king cake (no coffee) on arrival and there is a lovely covered outdoor seating area to eat your cake. The tour is completely self-guided, and only a few placards in the whole warehouse. Be aware that the warehouse has open doors, and although you won't get wet if it's raining, you might get cold or hot as I suspect that it's difficult to climate control. Although they advertise free pickup and drop off from the warehouse, the shuttle driver we had was neither efficient or cordial. We called promptly at 0900 for pick up and were told that the driver would be leaving right away, but between leaving twelve minutes later and evidently stopping somewhere to get gas first, the pick up took a full thirty minutes, and were the only ones he was picking up. Once we boarded, the only thing he said to us was "sanitize", indicating the need to clean our hands with the hand sanitizing gel. However, his rudeness was not so much as to spoil our visit. The admission fare is a little high, given that it would take most people only an hour to see most of the exhibits, but it's something you won't see anywhere else too.

Visited for the first time and was amazed by the production that goes into these floats and was thrilled to see artists at work. Endless sculptures. So beautiful and nice touch to give visitors king cake in celebration of Mardi Gras

On my trip to New Orleans I hadn't planned on going here but found some extra time and decided to explore this attraction. After buying the ticket they gave you a pice of King cake which was delicious. It was cool seeing all the pieces that would go or have been on the mardi gras floats. They are so huge and the detail is amazing. You can even seen some being made. You can take a step out back and look out over the Mississippi River.

Shuttle service to and from available. Call to find out about pickup and dropoff stations. Many Mardi Gras floats here. Other Mardi Gras exhibits also here. There are artists here working on Mardi Gras exhibits and structures. Admission discounts available for seniors, kids and veterans. A good way to spend a couple of hours, alone, as a couple, as a family with the kids.

Who would have know that floats can be so fun. The process is complicated. The outcome is beautiful. Makes me want to come back for Mardi Gras.
