Second time we've been to the zoo. Coming from the UK to visit family, we find this a great little zoo, just big enough to keep the kids entertained for about an hour. There are plenty of animals for them to see. Our son, his...More

A fun night with friends. They put on another spectacular Christmas light walk. They did a great job with the animal depictions.

I love going to HVZ in the summer. For it being free, it really has a lot going for it. I love the variety of animals and they have a lot of neat programs that help animals and share them with visitors.

This zoo is free. As a free zoo I have ZERO complaints. But I will share what I saw. The size is above what I expected. A sprawling campus. There are some brand new nearly state of the art enclosures and buildings. There are MANY...More

If you are someone who truly cares about animals, skip this place. The exotics do not have nearly enough room. I watched a large cat who was definitely traumatized, pacing. Yes it's free, but the animals are not the zoo's priority. It's all about raising...More

This zoo is small but was really cool. It is well kept up and a good size for smaller kids who can’t walk around for hours looking at things.

Always a fun day at the zoo - even better because it's free (don't forget to make a donation - it helps to keep it free!) Lots to see and do. A playground for the kids. The polar bears are my favorite!

Maybe 3 miles? Could be less. Much smaller than the Milwaukee zoo. My 5 year old was able to walk easily around the entire thing.
