The squeaky wooden floor greets your entry into the oldest operating trading post on the Navajo Nation. When your eyes adjust to the dim light in the "bullpen" you find you’ve just entered a mercantile. Hubbell's has been serving Ganado selling groceries, grain, hardware, horse tack, coffee and Native American Art since 1878. Discover Hubbell Trading Post NHS, where history is made every day. Hubbell Trading Post is the oldest continuously operated trading post in the southwest. While you are here, you can shop in the trading post for authentic Native-made art, walk around the old homestead which is still a living farm and ranch, and take a ranger-guided tour of the historic Hubbell home.

Fascinating side trip on our drive around north eastern AZ. We stayed about 2 hrs. looking around and taking pictures. The items for sale were prohibitively expensive though. Lovely pottery and blankets, great little store.

Open in 1876 and been there ever since serving the needs of the traveling public. Now has some great Navajo Indian crafts in the store and many other items to view and enjoy the history of and from them.

Recommend. The NPS Visitor Center, operating trading post and the historic Hubbell home are the three main visitor buildings and all are worth a visit. The historic home was our favorite, which must be visited with a ranger and is otherwise locked. Visitor center was...More

Thank you for your visit! It's true that funding limitations unfortunately sometimes require temporary closures of some facilities, especially during the off-season. We do our best to keep the visitor center open, and the trading post itself will always stay open during park hours. I'm...More

The road signage is awful, so watch closely for entrance. We had to ask a local where it was as the highway signage ("1/2 mile to Hubbell") is not complimented by signs at the actual entrance. Having said all that, this was a wonderful stop...More
