I took the chance to get out and stretch while driving through the Ouachita National Forrest a few months back, and was blown away on how peaceful and relaxing this place can be.

We camped at one of the dugout spots close to the river. It was definitely primitive (bring everything you'll need including water). We swam, fished, and bathed in the river along a beautiful cliff face. It was a great experience. There were lots of trails...More

We braved the gravel road for miles to find the Little Missouri Falls and were not disappointed. Granted, we were there in April and only saw two other people. It's an easy hike to the falls, very pretty, and peaceful. We tried a little fishing,...More

This forest was a pleasure to drive through. The scenery and wild life was abundant. The road was winding and hilly.

Many trails, beautiful, accessible and the fall colors were still good even in November . Unable to get to watch tower due to rain but great gift shop up there too!

I loved the drive up the steep roads in the mountains and the lake has the most beautiful, clear water that I have ever seen. My boyfriend and I are considering staying in the cabins on Lake Ouachita.
