Really wanted to go on the "Choo Choo train" (a.k.a. "Bong Bong") so booked a car and took a day to drive from Luodong. Decent drive though when we got there we discovered that the train is not operating and no mention on Forestry website or media. Only Lonely Planet report it as inoperable. Drive was slow and long and... More

Having a hot weather of around 30deg everyday, we welcomed the cool air of about 20deg on Taiping Mountain. We had our lunch in the one and only restaurant before our hike. Took a long flight of stairs up before the start of the trail. It felt so peaceful and tranquil. We were lucky that we did not meet any... More

Taipingshan is a must place to visit in Yilan, the scenery is breathtaking. We went to Cui Feng lake, the largest alpine lake in Taiwan and also the Taipingshan villa, the entrance to the numerous walking trails.

The Taiping Mountain is nice place to relax , the scenery of the mountain has different style in each season of the year , there is only two places to stay, both are always fully booked, remember to bring your own food here, nothing to eat out of that poor chinese meals offered in the small resort . Few trail... More

Arriving at Taipingshan in the heavy fog. Not raining but wet when get out of car. Enter magnificent building commemorating all the yellow cypress wood taken from this mountain by the Japanese loggers up until 1950s

So we took the trail next to it, Chinese Hem National Trail, which was about 1-2 hrs round trip. This is one of the shorter one... More

Climbed long steps to see 太平诗路 and ancient forest. It is about one full day trip to and in the mountain. We had lunch at cuifeng... More
