We visited Leilas Hair Museum because it sounded quirky and we were curious. Not only was it interesting but a good history lesson as well. There is so much significance to the hair weavings in terms of family histories. I highly recommend the tour and...More

I didn't know what to expect when we stopped in on a road trip to Kansas city. The tour guide was personable and very informative. The collection is really impressive! Once she explained that prior to having photographs these art pieces were how family members...More

Since we were in Independence visiting the Truman Presidential museum, we thought we would check out other things in the area to do and this was one of them. Kind of hard to explain, but instead of pictures, people used hair to show the family...More

Best place to go if you are done visiting Truman sites. Fantastic and historically knowledgeable owner. You will never visit any other place like it!

Pics from dead people's hair may kinda freak some people out, but this is so cool. It's a lost art, & the works are a.m.a.z.i.n.g. By the sound of it, it doesn't necessarily sound that interesting, but if you're interested in the history/lifestyles of generations...More

Leila has an amazing collection of hair - family history hair designs like samplers made of family members' hair. Even has some hair if famous people.

This is a very small place, but has hundreds of items made from hair! It doesn't look like much from the street - but it's worth stopping for. The price is a little high for my taste, but I don't mind supporting the small business...More
