It’s a bit grubby but it does the job
Oct 2018 • Couples
We hired a private room with aircon. The set up is not like anything I’d seen before - we had a bed with cushions, a big tv, and a toilet.

The bed is a bit off-putting, we’d have felt much more comfortable on a sofa I think. It just feels too much like you’re sitting on a stranger’s bed, and we couldn’t help thinking of the things that mattress must have seen - it’s a private room rented out by the hour, after all!

Having said all this, the experience was ok. The quality of the film and the sound were good, the guy who runs the counter is super friendly and explained everything really well, and you can pause the film anytime you need the loo.

Would probably recommend to people who’ve been travelling around South East Asia for a while and are not expecting super sanitised standards.

Note: you pay per person per film in the private room (price changes depending on day) but if your film is longer than two hours you pay $1 for the whole room - not per person)

Watching documentary movies is a must
Sep 2018 • Friends
It was raining all day when my friend and I were in Kampot for 2 days, hence we decided to give this a try.

They had hundreds of movie and impressively some movies were quite updated, from Asian to Western.

Since we were in Cambodia thus we decided to watch local movie/documentary about Khmer Rouge that took place in 1970s. It was great indeed! The title was “The Killing Field”.

This cinema was more kinda like Netflix and chill.

Good opportunity to try this though.

We went to watch an afternoon viewing of The Killing Fields. Comfortable seats, good sound and air conditioning. Could take in snacks and drinks. Good way to spend a few hours.

Going to the cinema but than just like in your own living room

Because we were on a one year world trip this place felt like heaven to us. At that time we were already 5 months on the road with a backpack so having the comfort of a cozy bed, a big library of movies to choose from and some popcorn was excellent. If you have the time to spare and you want something different than this cinema could be an option. However I'm not sure if I would go there if I was only for 2 weeks in Cambodia on holidays. But other than that, great place. You pay what you get.

Perfect way to escape the heat
Apr 2017 • Friends
We booked a private room to watch a movie in the mid afternoon in May, and it was perfect. The air-con was really good, there was a decent selection of movies, and there were no issues with the movie. The screen was big, sound was good.
The room itself was a touch grubby, and it smelled a bit of stale smoke, but all in all it's a great concept and really affordable. Would definitely recommend it if you're in town for the blistering highs of summer!

Awesome concept and fun place to catch a movie. AC could use improvement.

My wife and I attended a showing of the Killing Fields here and it was a really interesting experience. The main theater is set up with this platform in the last row that's covered in pillows so you and probably five other people can lay down and stretch out. You feel like you're watching movies in your own house. We were a little disappointed in the air conditioning of the main theater. While the units seemed to be working, they just aren't enough to cool that large of a space. What was really disappointing was that there were fans mounted on the wall, but none of them seemed to work (me and another patron tried to turn them on). If the fans and the AC had been going, it would have been a much more comfortable experience. That being said, this is a really fun place to go, and even with the AC not working, it's still nice for getting out of the heat.

Perfect way to spend a hot afternoon
Apr 2017 • Couples
We watched Hancock here and it was a lovely experience. They do have regular showings in larger rooms, but for a small fee you can rent a small air-conditioned room and watch one of their many many movies. Just a really nice way to spend your afternoon!

You're essentially on a giant bed with a load of cushions watching a smart TV with a sound system. The sound was sometimes a little more than the speakers could handle, but by and large it was great.

Be warned - sometimes they seem to have two parts of a movie trilogy but not the third (or the sequel to a movie and not the original) but it seems that the collection isn't just limited to the booklet they give you - they told us they had more but we didn't ask.

If you want to get out of the heat for an afternoon, this is the place to do it!

What a great experience! We saw The Missing Picture on a lazy afternoon and it was memory we'll always hold dear. Cozy pillows, couches, chairs in a dark living room with a big screen. They have an interesting collection of Cambodian movies, but also a few modern ones in the mix. Perfect ambiance to chill, sit back and watch movies about a region you're currently traveling through.

nice and cozy movie house in Kampot
Jan 2017 • Couples
They show movies for a few dollars every night, but you can also rent a private room to watch a movie of your choosing from a large selection of movie titles. Fresh handmade noodles and dumplings from Ecran Noodle and Dumpling House is also available for order while watching the movie. We tried the noodles and the boiled and fried dumplings - very delicious and well worth the price.
