Uncrowded underrated park. Very rewarding. The special five animals include reticulated giraffes, Somali ostrich, gravy zebras, gerenuk and beisa oryx. A tour of rhino sanctuary is rewarding. Lions, buffaloes, water-bucks, hippos and antelopes in plenty. Bird in plenty as well. With 6 permanent rivers, the...More

Varied landscapes with doum palms and baobabs, numerous streams providing year round water for the game, all frames by the Nyambene hills to the west.

We really enjoyed our time in Meru National Park, despite being initially wary after being told mixed things about the place. We were told that the animals are quite timid and run away from cars, but we didn't find to be the case other than...More

Not many cars on the road and many elephants. We also saw rhinos, lions and zebras, girrafes, buffalos and many antelope. We self drove and road conditions are not very good but also not very bad. The map is very useful which our hotel provided....More

We spent the night at Ikweta at the gate of the park and took 2 drives. We saw lions, elephants, giraffes and even cheetahs. We drove right through the park to emerge from the opposite side gate.

I chose this park since I like to experience one new area each trip. I had read that animals here can be more challenging to spot, so I decided to stay three nights. It is one of the least visited parks and I can see...More

Meru National Park is not very touristic and therefor there are almost no other jeeps around. We've had wonderful gamedrives and have seen many different animals in a peaceful and quiet surrounding.

This park has more bushes thus it might be more difficult to spot wild animals. landscapes are beautiful, part of the park is dedicated to Rhinos and thus extra watched. We had nice surprises though met lion cubs among others. Enjoyable!

It is a very underrated park. Animals in Meru are similar as in Samburu: oryx, ostrich, kudu, reticulated giraffe, and zebra, but they are more shy because they are not yet so used to cars and people. Oh, there are rhinos as well! Very few...More

Meru is more natural and less of a tourist trap. The lodges melt into the scenery, the tracks are part of the park. The community are aware of conserving what they have and although there is a fence you see it only as you... More
