Description:

Ole Smoky is the first federally licensed moonshine distillery in the state...

Ole Smoky is the first federally licensed moonshine distillery in the state of Tennessee. A visit to Ole Smoky is the true moonshine experience. As you approach the entrance, you can detect the distinct smell of our grains cooking and fermenting. You'll see authentic working moonshine stills and experience the process from beginning to end. Our distillers will take the time to visit with you and answer any questions about the history and lore of moonshining in East Tennessee. After you see, smell and hear about the process, we offer tastings of our Award winning shine! Samples of our Original Unaged Corn Whiskey, White Lightnin' and Moonshine Cherries as well as Apple Pie and Blackberry flavors - plus we offer seasonal and special flavors that aren't available in package stores. And of course, you'll be able to buy plenty of moonshine and Ole Smoky merchandise to take home with you.

Guess the free booze made it too popular. It's a 5$ fee now, but you get a 5$ voucher for the giftshop. But the Bluegrass music and rocking chairs make it still a nice experience. Will we go back, don't think so. It's a fun evening attraction when you're in town, nothing more.

My girlfriend and I did both this and the Sugarlands distillery moonshine tasting during our 2016 road trip. For just $5 you can taste all of their moonshine varieties (in the form of shots) with your own personal bartender. This also gets you discounts on the merchandise if you want to buy any. This place is impressive with rows upon... More

Good moonshine just feel like it is just another store... nothing unique about it! Other than the tastings they do.... feels like walking into a walmart they only sells moonshine and apparel...

We were here a few years ago and one of my daughters was not 21 yet. This time both our girls were. They both did the moonshine tasting, I think it was $5 for 5-7 tastings of anything you want. My husband and I sat this one out. but they were trying crazy drinks with super high proofs. Surprisingly neither... More

My issue with this place isnt the taste of their brews the prices the atmosphere or such. My issue is the product is decieving. As a person who has distilled my own moonshine ( something that can get you really drunk from just a few shots) i find this places 80 proof liquor insulting. 80 proof means 40 percent alcohol.... I always go to Ole Smoky when I am in town to do the free moonshine tasting. They always seem to have some new flavors to sample. Always a good time and the servers are always great. On this visit my server was Jon Clabo. He was very knowledgeable about all samples and had great ideas on what to mix... More

My husband and I enjoyed our tasting experience with Joshua. It was more than just tasting moonshine and whiskey: it was a whole experience with Joshua's fun personality.
