New Years

Just a short paved walk to overlook a large waterfall and view of Canada, even manageable in the snow.

this was our last stop for the day ( also last exit in USA before entering Canada ). The visitor center is very quite and heard that you can get a chance to view aurora colors in sky for some days. the air is very fresh as it is cut off from the busy cities.

You start out walking. Easy trails and lots of benches along the way for folks not in shape. You just keep walking and bam - - a stunning waterfall. Don't bother with gift shoppe. Unfriendly service.

This is one of the newer state parks. The falls are accessible by a paved trail that takes you right out to the falls. They even have a ramp entry for those who can't go up the steps. The view is equally good from either vantage point. The ranger told us that it is about a half mile trip to... More

The walkway is very easy and short. The payoff are very nice views of the waterfalls and river. Very well maintained.

A spectacular place to hike. One of the best in Minnesota. If the falls are running a great place to picnic and really get the feel of northern Minnesota

We hiked to High Falls with an officer (ranger?) from the Visitor's Center who was very knowledgeable about the trees and plants. Most enjoyable. And the falls were magnificent. We also hiked the Middle Falls Trail and had our trail lunch in front of the beautiful falls. The trail is not an easy one, but it does offer woodland beauty,... More

The falls were beautiful but it's not worth the drive. The hike out is only a half of a mile, then you spend 10 minutes enjoying the falls and turn around and go back. There is not much of a hike at all, the whole thing took under 30 minutes. Only worth the trip if you stop on your way... More

We always stop here to view the Pigeon river falls, easy walk, the waterfall never disappoints, watched the ice come out on this trip go some great video, oh the wonders of nature. If you make it to Grand Marais this is a must see along with Mount Josephine on the way up.

Really nice hike for children. The trail to High Falls is paved. I took my elderly father in a wheelchair to the falls. It's a short hike to such a beautiful falls. Well used by travellers you are sure to see many children, dogs as well as some wildlife. It's my favourite place to stop after a long drive in... More
