Many of the homes are mansions in the $1-$3 million range. The holiday lights are predominantly professionally installed (based on the signs), and it seems like several houses are attempting to one-up each other. The result are some houses with really impressive displays. We went...More

We loved walking around the neighborhood and seeing the lights. Hands down more fun that fifth avenue where you are jostling the crowds! We drove but reached at dusk. Plenty of parking right in the prime neighborhood. The crowds hadn’t begun but lights were on....More

I loved this! I wasn’t sure quite how good the area would be but it is truly amazing and well worth the trip out. We used a coach tour booked though Trip Advisor and it was well worth it. They stopped on the way back...More

We were really excited to see the Christmas displays but were a bit disappointed, given the distance to travel from Manhattan, and the fact that it wasn’t as spectacular as promoted. It is definitely a show of the neighborhood spirit, but we live in an...More

This was the first time the family traveled to see the Christmas lights at Dyker Heights. It exceeded our expectations. Best lights were on 83-85th streets between 11th and 13th Ave. We arrived at 4:20 PM the day after Christmas and easily found parking for...More

I would recommend venturing out to see the Christmas lights of Dyker Heights, it is truly unbelievable! Such a nice thing for the residents to do to get tourists and locals together to celebrate a nice Christmas tradition.

Every December, people flock here to see the lights (I sure did!). However, it seems that most people drive there or take a tour bus... this has led to the streets of this residential suburb becoming congested, with typical NY honking abound. This made me...More

Took the tour on Christmas Eve. Our driver was Alex (great driver) and our host was Jorge. We had amazingly light traffic so if you are around on Christmas this is a great night. Apparently the previous night tour was 4 hours, ours clocked in...More

Don’t know for certain but would expect lights up until after 12 Days of Christmas, when arrival of the 3 Kings is celebrated - which would be after the weekend of 5-6 January.

We use the Citymapper Iphone app for both subways and buses in the NYC area. It's great for mapping your route to the neighborhood and constantly updates times. It will tell you where buses stop and at what time.
