My first time working with hot glass. I make stained glass pieces at home, but this was a belated Christmas gift to myself. I made a paperweight. The class was 45 minutes, one -on-one with a very skilled instructor. I came away with a beautiful paperweight. They do many classes for adults and children. (If you make something that is heated you have to pick it up the next day or have it sent to you. Glass needs to cool in a controlled manner so it doesn't explode)

This is a very cool space for glass artists. I did not get into the gallery/gift store, which looked really good but got to watch a demonstration by one of the artists who buy time to work here, and it was fascinating. It's quite a space, with a number of the big ovens and all the accoutrements that enable these talented folks to create some stunning works of glass art. I was with a group that had scheduled a demonstration - I'm not sure it's open to folks just walking in, but if you can get in with a group, it's worth the time.

Full confession- I have walked by this store front gallery for months, in the evenings, while waiting to attend events at the Harvey Theater next door, wishing that it stayed open later so I could wander in. Sometime in the past year, they got the memo- this wonderful space rotates work from the artists who use the studio spaces above- and if you want something authentic and unique, this is the place to go. In addition to the art gallery, there is a small store which also carries one of a kind pieces, and its become my first stop when I am looking for a gift. The staff is friendly and happy to put you in touch with the artists for custom work. Plus, they hold classes and open studio days- there are so few artist collectives left in the city at this point, this is well worth a visit.
