The NYBG planners need to fix the ridiculous situation of having only one set of restrooms in the entire show. On a recent extremely crowded Sunday afternoon, my toddler granddaughter was close to the end of the show when she needed the restroom. We were told we would have to go all the way back to the only one there. We had to fight against the shoulder to shoulder flow of human traffic, inching along in the wrong direction, and because it was so hard and took so long, and because of the stress involved, we were willing to not even go back to finish the end part of the show, but instead, tried to just leave the way we came in. BUT NO!! The guards at the door refused to let us out, crying child and all. They said, no, we would have to go all the way back THROUGH THE ENTIRE SHOW AGAIN to get out. NO amount of begging and emotion would change their minds. We were actually held hostage. (Although we had just witnessed them allow two women out, which is why we were sure that was the way out out.) It completely ruined our quite expensive experience, and although we are members, I would not go again. Please, if you are going with little kids, or the elderly, be aware of this crowd control issue.

A sunny, cool day greeted us as my wife, her brother and her sister met for a visit at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. Magnolia trees were in full bloom and magnificent. A leisurely walk through the grounds showed us ponds stocked with koi and more than a few turtles (our favorites). Japanese touches were everywhere, which added to the many visitors from Japan during our time here. An outdoor lunch venue was just right. We are hoping to return another day in a fall setting. Blessings to you.

I was so glad to find this place. It is right next to Bay Ridge Pier and Bay Ridge Avenue. It is free of charge and besides beautiful flowers attended by volunteers you will find here great views of the New York Bay.

Narrows Botanic Park is a gem of a park. Families with young children playing quietly. Dogs running on and off leash. Individuals enjoying the view of lower NY Harbor. Various special events held in Park throughout the year. Volunteers maintain the park. Donations keep the park beautiful! Lucky to live across the street from it.

This is a lovely spot within Shore Road Park that is maintained by volunteers. It has a small Native Plant Garden housing chickens, turtles, frogs, and a koi pond that is open on weekends usually from 10am - 3pm . Free outdoor movies in the summer (check the website for dates) and is less than a block from the new NYC ferry. (be aware that there are no restroom facilities).
