my friend and I both from Pennsylvania both wanted to play golf on our last full day in Alaska on a cruise and land tour. I called and talked with Gene who warned me that there was standing water on the course because of recent rains. The course was soft and wet, permafrost doesn't help the drainage. The greens were... My colleague and i wanted to play a different course, but it was not yet open, so we went here. We were sorry. The 9 hole course was in terrible condition. It was swampy, rutted, littered with exposed pipes, and there were canary-sized mosquitoes everywhere. Worst greens I have ever played on. The fairways were not mowed and were hardly... More

Service - The servers work their butts off and never get anywhere. This is because they have no bus staff, no host/hostess and no one to fill drinks. They do work very hard, and I feel for them. They were very helpful and nice when you got a moment of their time. When you walk in no one speaks to... More

Went here with a friend expecting something special. While our salads were acceptable, the bacon wrapped scallops were waaaaay overcooked and the beef tips were chewy and a very small portion. We asked for a little more bread to soak up sauce and were charged. The service was polite, however, the waitress appeared to have too many tables and did... More

My family and I had dinner at the Double Eagle last night for my husband's birthday. It was a beautiful day and we decided to sit outside on their deck overlooking a great view of the golf course. Both my husband and I had steaks that were perfectly cooked and tasty. They also have a diverse selection of good beers... More

My wife and I visited the Double Eagle Restaurant last night. The restaurant was so cold inside folks were having to wear jackets to stay warm. The food was overpriced and sloppily prepared. It is rather unfortunate because there was a real opportunity here to create a different dining experience for Fairbanksians but the efforts flopped around like a live... More

I visited this course at the behest of a good friend of mine and was shocked. Apparently the restaurant has been re-done and has just opened. I was surprised by the fresh modern look inside the "Double Eagle" restaurant. Their menu was simple yet broad and appealing. The deck was sunny and delightful. The waitstaff were all helpful and extremely... More

Sports bar atmosphere with Ritz prices. Food mediocre, service mediocre and atmosphere - not cozy or inviting. I will never go back.

I live in Fairbanks and play golf here almost exclusively. The newly redone clubhouse and bar/restaurant are very nice. I have eaten quite a few things off the menu and have never been disappointed. The prices are pretty decent ($12 for shrimp louie, around that for a nice big cheeseburger and fries) and the food is well worth it. The... More

a beautiful course tucked away near the university, the nine holes available offer a wide variety of challenges and scenery. if you have a chance to schedule an appointment with tom mulka, he is absolutely wonderful, and will have you chipping out of the sand traps in no time!! definately would recommend this golf course, it's wonderful!
