We took this road to pick up the Dalton Highway. We didn't see much traffic once we got north of Fairbanks and it took about 2 hours to get to the Dalton Highway sign. Conditions were great with only a few frost heaves.

This being my first visit to Alaska (and being in December) I was most pleased to see what a fine highway this was and how clear it was given the snow and cold.

Based on 9/16 trip, the Elliot is horrible. the paved part from Fairbanks is not too bad, but the turnoff junction toward Manley is indescribable.there are 13 miles under construction (destruction), in which you have to follow a pilot car. You may have to wait...More

The blacktop potion of the Elliott was a wonderful, under construction highway. Get a full Tank of gas at Hilltop. and remember there are limited to no services. I went to Manley on the Elliott. I simply drove slow over the... More
