This museum is in our hometown. So we have been there on a number of occasions. I have gone on several occasions with my son during his years of being a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout. School trips. Bringing friends to learn about our city who were visiting from out of state. This museum has a clear and excellent... More

Make sure you stop by The Museum of History. Located in a historical building you will experience things like a 100 year old apothecary, old cars and historical finds from Fort Smith residents. Have an old fashioned ice cream soda and travel back to a time when everything made sense.

Then furniture and... More

We had a really nice day touring the museum and eating ice cream in the old fashioned ice cream fountain in the "pharmacy." There is a lot to see; the museum is well lit so it made touring the venues easy. There is an elevator to the second floor, which I found nice, since I have a difficult time with... More

This museum was a disappointment. I saw things that did not actually pertain to Ft. Smith. I hope it continues to grow and bring in more authentic articles of that period.

I went to the museum on the notion that I had 1 hour to tour it. Unfortunately, it was only 10 minutes until closing. I wasn't disappointed, just a bit of miscommunication, it happens. The reason I am giving a Terrible rating is because of the "lack luster" welcome I received. When it was noted that the museum would close... More

Very well put together. Very historical and organized to take you from early times to later years. Lots of videos to watch that helped follow the history better. So much happened in Fort Smith.

I grew up in FT Smith in the 50s-60s & my great grand father clerk ed for Judge Parker, served as his attorney, and was Indian Agent, so I was pleased to see the improvements to Ft Smith history and recall the many stories of my grandmother, Marie Duvall Johnston. You should also check out the displays of Ft Smith... More

If you are a museum person you will enjoy this old, three story building jam packed with exhibits. It features a working soda fountain as part of an antique pharmacy. The cabinets, drawers and shelves are complete with antique medicine bottles and boxes. Other exhibits change but you will always find uniforms, other clothing, firearms and implements from the 1800's.... More
