My husband and I took a day trip down to South Beach while we were staying in Savannah! It was very peaceful. A great place to take a family, plenty of room not crowded at all! There were some good places to eat and souvenir...More

Spent half day on Tybee Island - island is 3 square miles - nice beaches and one street filled with tee shirt shops/beach items. Stroll out on the pier and enjoy fishing or just sitting enjoying the breeze

We went to Tybee Island beach for the day on Saturday. The beaches are busy, busy, busy. But we had a fun time. We took drinks and snacks and spent about 4 hours there. The beaches are beautiful, big and lots of sand for stretching...More

We drove over to this beach from Savannah even though it was February. The parking was easy, and there was a very nice nature center right in the parking lot by the beach. Sand was very clean and the restrooms were also clean and good...More

Drive over from Savannah was more enjoyable than being on island. Very crowded, no parking, limited "tourist" shops. Not worth going in my opinion.

Tybee is a classic beach community about 20 minutes from downtown Savannah. A nice pier and clean beach with all of the things that go with a bustling beach community. But you can't get there by public transportation - too bad!

I agree with conrad. Get there early, parking will be hard to come by all over town.

South beach is removed from the main beach a bit and most of the beach goers go to the central or North beach. Granted that Tybee beach is not that large but I have not seen a lot of Spring break folks there at that time. IF... More
