Savannah History & Haunts Candlelit Walking Ghost Tour

724 reviews
Though charmingly romantic by day, Savannah becomes altogether spookier after sundown. Discover the city’s macabre side when you embark on a nighttime, ghostly walking tour, illuminated by candlelight. Meet your costumed guide in central Savannah after dark, and discover its historical squares, cobblestone streets, moss-draped trees, and even its cemeteries. As you go, learn about the city’s scariest ghost stories, unexplained happenings, and chilling characters.

Located on Bull Street, Johnson Square is the oldest of Savannah's 24 iconic 'Squares', a series of city parks. This is an especially lovely and large park with lots of places to sit and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings during a walk of old Savannah. We were most fortunate to be there when Mr. James Frazier was there. Mr. Frazier is a native of Savannah and comes to the park frequently where he sings and talks to visitors. Also, this is a great spot in the spring and summer after a rain to see Savannah's resurrection ferns on the beautiful old trees in the square. In dry weather, the ferns turn brown, and seem to be dead—that is, until the next rain, when they turn green and spring back to life.

This is one of the largest of the squares that are situated thoughout Savannah. This is the first of the squares on Bull St (starting from Bay St). If you follow Bull St this will lead you to a few more squares till you reach Forsyth Park. Each of the squares have a history, with Johnson Square having a monument and small fountain. These are great places to take a break and enjoy the beauty of Savannah.

This square is at the center right downtown and very near the river, so it has more businesses than residences. Still it is tranquil and lovely. We enjoyed our time here.

This is one of the more beautiful squares in Savannah. It is very well maintained and a great place to stroll. There is a lot of history so be sure to read up before you go to the square. There are a lot of very old trees and some great vegetation.

Savannah has combined the best of the best! History and charm and beauty make up Savannah's numerous Squares. I am drawn to them all, as each has its own character.
