Savannah History & Haunts Candlelit Walking Ghost Tour

727 reviews
Though charmingly romantic by day, Savannah becomes altogether spookier after sundown. Discover the city’s macabre side when you embark on a nighttime, ghostly walking tour, illuminated by candlelight. Meet your costumed guide in central Savannah after dark, and discover its historical squares, cobblestone streets, moss-draped trees, and even its cemeteries. As you go, learn about the city’s scariest ghost stories, unexplained happenings, and chilling characters.

This is just a hauntingly beautiful place to go. We went on our own without a tour and we were able to find Gracie Watson’s statue on our own. This is a very old cemetery and some of the monuments have been destroyed over time and by weather. It adds to the atmosphere. If you enjoy looking at old cemeteries, this is a jewel. The tours coming by was a distraction. Alone without a group was the way we preferred to experience it.

Fun to do if you like old cemeteries. The one in the center of town was even better, even if it was smaller.

It was nice to do once. It is very huge. Easy to get lost in. There were parking lots further back so you could get out and walk.

It wasn't as many huge elaborate monuments as some make it seem. It was huge cemetery and beautiful grounds with some interesting sites. We drove all around the cemetery rather than parking. We did not get a tour guide. It was something worth driving through. Don't plan on being overwhelmed.

Within the Savannah Metropolitan Area, the Bonaventure Cemetery is my top destination and a favorite to visit at all times of the day! From a photography perspective, there is no better place to visit early in the AM with it's soft lighting and Spanish moss shrouded historical tombstones. We didn't have time to take the guided tour but I would guess there is much to learn about the 'many stories' captured in this intimate setting!
