Be prepared for the unusual and imaginative at this museum housing works by non-mainstream artists, including the "whirligig", a 55-foot wind-powered sculpture, a 10-foot model of the Lusitania made entirely out of match sticks and a mobile that spans three floors.

This is a museum for the works of people whose works might not otherwise get in. Very creative and imaginative stuff from a broad swath of Americans. It is a great visit with kids!

The museum is great - totally unique artistic creations from what is mostly a local art scene. Miniatures, kinetic sculptures, assemblies of stuff are in abundance. It is well worth the price of admission - and I saw it when it was changing over to...More

I thought this museum was supposed to be a mix of avant garde and primitive art. Well, it's heavy on the avant garde, not so much the primitive. One floor was closed the day I was there, so maybe I didn't get the full view....More

An awesome place for seeing wonderfully weird art. Some exhibits are permanent many are rotating. Well worth the price of admission and good for teenagers that have some arts appreciation. Awesome gift shop as well with funny and strange things at all price levels. Wonderful...More

We only saw the back building of this place as we were there for a wedding, but the art installations were both creative and fun, a lot of modern, bizarre stuff.

Baltimore is blessed with great art museums, but this one stands out and should not be missed. Very moving exhibits of beautiful self-taught art, in most cases reflecting the inner struggles of the artist. Visit the large museum store, packed full of weird and wonderful...More

We really enjoyed the unique creations at this museum. The exhibit when we went was food creations and some of the art was amazing. Definitely worth a visit.

The current exhibition is all about food, from art on lunchboxes, spinning mandalas made with paper plates, to bread art and more. The permanent displays of outsider art make this place one of the best stops in Baltimore. Don't miss it!
