Be prepared for the unusual and imaginative at this museum housing works by non-mainstream artists, including the "whirligig", a 55-foot wind-powered sculpture, a 10-foot model of the Lusitania made entirely out of match sticks and a mobile that spans three floors.

I love the a van. It's always a great afternoon. The exhibits are phenomenal, love the gift shop. And if the restaurant is open for a snack or a cocktail, it's worth the time!

My inner young self was most amused by the fart machine that was located?? Well go and find it yourself. :) This place is fun, whimsical and sparks imagination. Head to toe art throughout the building. Even the bathrooms are fun and provide insightful reading.

I think this is a wonderful museum, but the current exhibit that takes up most of the gallery space, "The Great Mystery Show" seems to lack cohesion and was less interesting than exhibits I have seen here in the past.

This is a great museum, especially if you have people who aren't "museum" people. Exhibits could involve animatronics, putting on color spectral glasses, and there was a fart exhibit (yes....). The best part is that the first weekend of the month, you can get in...More

WHAT an inspiring place. Such creativity. Helps you redefine the meaning of art. Here are photos of placards and art projects in and outside the buildings. Highly recommend.

Walkable from Baltimore’s Harbor is an offbeat gem: The American Visionary Arts Museum. You will know it when you see it, as the building is covered in mirrored mosaics. It is well worth your time. What is the place about? Their words: “Visionary art as...More

Went with a group. Much to see. 3 floors of unique art. Everyone can find something they like. Fun. Restaurant upstairs. Sunporch off of it where you can eat your own lunch and observe the whirleygig. Fun.
