We by chance went to Fort McHenry and were wonderfully pleased. The indoor museum gives so much information. The walk to the fort is short. It is wheel chair accessible. In the fort, each building has been set up to give you a true idea of what happened on the fort.

My husband and I took advantage of the 70 degrees February day, and decided to visit Fort McHenry. It wasn't our first visit, so honestly, we didn't go into the fort itself. We walked along the path by the water, that is a feat in itself for me. I have a disease that affects my voluntary muscles, so today was... More

This was on the top of my list for a place to visit while spending a week in Baltimore. So much of our nation's history is wrapped up in protecting Baltimore from the British and also having the cannons trained on the city in case there was local resistance to the Revolutionary troops. I loved how spread out things were,... More

A good place to start if you would like to take a historical tour of Baltimore. It's so cool to think that the Star-Spangled Banner was penned during the Battle of Baltimore during the War of 1812. There is a fee to see the fort but the museum is free.

I thought this was a great National Monument to visit in Baltimore. I was really exciting to see where we defended our nation from the port area in Baltimore. The people who work for the Fort are always in character and make the experience unique. Stay a little later to see them lower the flag during the ceremony. It is... More

I actually didn't want to come here but my history buff son dragged me along. I was quite surprised by what a wonderful visit it was. The Fort's history is about so much more than a single night in 1814; it was important during the Civil War and both World Wars. The staff is passionate about the shrine and provides... More

Our Scout troop had the privilege of raising the flag in the morning. Thanks for the wonderful memory.

The visitor's center is beautiful. There are walking paths all around it and joggers we're doing their diligent workouts while we strolled gently along the path down to the water's edge. You can pay just $10 to tour the Fort. We didn't go in to do the tour this day due to my sore foot, but we'll return again later... More

Fort McHenry has something for everyone. If you love history, you get a terrific angle on the War of 1812. If you love photograpy, the shots are everywhere you turn. If you love waterfront spots, you can stroll along the promenade. If you love picnics - this is a tremendous place to picnic. My last visit was when the Blue... More

The food was excellent and I like the fact that the waiters and waitresses came back several times to see if you needed anything.
