This is a great piece of American history that many people miss. You need to do the full guided tour to get the whole picture. They also have a really nice playroom for kids.

From reading the reviews, it seems as though our visit was on the wrong day. The museum was lackluster for the price and the video is old and outdated. As far as the house, there was no one to give a tour, we were given a binder and told to basically monitor if anyone came in without paying to send... More

There is a small museum in addition to touring the home where the star spangled banner creators lived. Start with a short film on the history, view the museum exhibits and then tour the home. You can go with a guide or you can go with a folder that details the same items the guide will speak about. You can... More

The biggest reason to visit here is for the storytelling from one of the tour guides. She painted the picture of what it would have been like to work at that time and helped us understand the scope of work and the incredible artistry of a flag that size. The exhibit in the museum is nice, but you should absolutely... More

I wouldn't even have known of the Star-Spangled Banner Flag House if I hadn't consulted TripAdvisor---so thank you, TA contributors! I loved learning about the remarkable maker of the Star-Spangled Banner---Mary Pickersgill, a widow who supported her family with a successful sewing business. We paid for entry to the museum & house (though you can take the "museum only" option).... More

The main building had a lot of historical information about the time leading up to the battle of Baltimore. The front of the main building with the glass picture of a flag is the actual size of the flag that was flown during that battle and the house at the museum is the only hisorical builing left from that time... This just marks the creation of the flag that inspired Francis Scott Key to write the Star Spangled Banner. A few blocks from the harbor and right next to Little Italy.

A hidden gem in Baltimore. Baltimore, as you may know, is where the "Star Spangled Banner" was composed during the war of 1812. This museum tells the history of how that flag was created - a huge flag flown over Fort McHenry during the Battle of Baltimore

Enjoyed this site we stumbled upon, and learned many things about the home and place of business of Mary Pickersgill, who was commissioned to sew the colors that inspired the song "The Star Spangled Banner," following a battle during the war or 1812. Neat little place, with a nice museum. If you enjoy obscure historical places, this is a place... More
