Fine way to walk most hours. No night lighting.

It's pavement! The view of the river and the brisk breeze makes this a nice way to go in summer, but bundle up in fall and winter. See a solid amount of bike traffic, too. Don't zone out too much.
Note: few benches at various stretches and no real weather shelters.

Great photo ops!

If you are into marine photography, stay up at night or pre-dawn to catch river traffic. If you are on a tripod, you can get wavy lines of navigation lights with a slow shutter.

Great way to see Astoria and the river!

I was able to walk from my motel into the main l part of town via this river walk which includes an old RR track. If you are rinding a bike you need to be careful that you don't get you bike tires caught between the track and with wood siding. Plenty of places to view the rive and sit and have a beer or a full dinner along this river walk.

Great views along the Riverwalk!
Jul 2021 • Couples
The Riverwalk is officially 6.4 miles from Smith Point on the west side to Lagoon Road on the east. It offers something for everyone as it goes right through the business/restaurant/brewery areas going east to the edge of town. I stayed at the Hampton Inn which is right on the Riverwalk so each morning there are lots of opportunities to go for a few mile stroll. Bicycles/walkers/runners are all welcome. All along the Riverwalk you’ll see ships of all sizes going up and down the Columbia River. Absolutely beautiful scenery! Now if the weather was not the cool, misty, drizzle it’d be perfect. Highly recommend a stroll especially starting east and walking west so the bridge connecting Oregon to Washington is always in view!

Riverwalk Trail is nice to Walk or Bike
Jun 2021 • Couples
We unloaded our E-Bikes and rode the whole Riverwalk For a total of 10.3 Miles. From the Maritime museum east is less traffic & businesses etc, going towards the west end you have to pay attention to vehicles, businesses etc more. It’s a nice easy ride.

NIce Walk - Felt Safe
Jun 2021
Even early in the morning, I felt quite safe walking about two miles on the river walk. Some nice interpretive signs along the way.

We walked the length of the riverwalk along the water that also runs along Astoria. Easy walk for all ages. Beautiful view. Clean.

Good way to get your daily constitutional in with the wife and the dog. More industrial than scenic, however.

Easy walk

Stroll the walk way and look at the ships coming and going on the Columbia River. There are some find dinning spots as well as other eateries along the dock area.

Pretty Walk along the Waterfront
Oct 2019
My husband and I walked to the maritime museum and back to the cruise port on the Riverwalk. It was a lovely, sunny, warm fall day. Parts of the trail are interesting - there are maritime artifacts, old waterfront building (mostly repurposed), some residential buildings, bridges... just a pleasant and fairly long place to get your 10,000+ steps! The bonus is the Maritime museum at the end (which I reviewed also). The bridges are shared with the local (and I believe, free) trolley, so be aware of that. It seems very safe, at least during the day. We met several friendly locals and their dogs. the Riverwalk provides a nice view of the town. Recommended for sure!
