The Flavel house is a lovingly preserved house that was home to the city's most distinguished family. Its hard to escape how passionate the volunteers that run this place are about this place and it shows. Absolutely worth a stop.

What an amazing piece of history and so beautifully decorated. We were the only ones in the house the day we went, so were able to take our time and thoroughly go through the home. This home is a must if your visiting Astoria. Will...More

Make sure you see the little movie in the where the tickets are sold. Its gave a great history not only of the house and the Captain but Astoria in general. The house and decorations were amazing. The docent was super informative. Really enjoyed this...More

Probably the highlight of our Astoria visit (but then, we love old homes). Start your tour in the carriage house/gift shop with a film that tells the history of the Flavel family.

The film in the ticketing area was a highlight. It describes the Flavels (the original owners) and the source of their wealth. The house and grounds are well-maintained. We visited off-season so we were able to linger in the house. Volunteers were happy to answer...More

This is a very quaint historical home. It is worth the price of a ticket to walk through this house on a self-guided tour. You can take pictures, but no flash allowed.

This house has been very well looked after. Gives the visitor a really good insight into the good life back then!

The Flavel House is a beautiful place! Capt. Flavel certainly made sure his family was well taken care of, and safe. It felt like a real home, not like a museum as so many older homes do. I would definitely recommend seeing this one!
