My wife and I visited here yesterday. What a beautiful Landmark of Oregon history. Once you ascend the 164 stairs of the circular staircase, you are rewarded with an unobstructed 360 view of the Astoria area. The exterior of the Column is a piece of...More

Even though we did not climb the Column, the views are well worth the 5 dollar per car admission. It was a highlight of our Astoria visit.

Shows history of area on the outside of the column. A little over 100 very narrow steps to the top. People can launch airplanes from the top. Some parking on an incline.

It is a little more than a mile and a half from the Maritime Museum on the riverfront, and all uphill. I don't know if there are buses that go up there.

30 min is about right but if you're lucky and have a great day then you'd want a little longer. I say plan for an hour. If you're in that much of a hurry then don't go. I've been there twice BTW.
