Good information on the history and geology of the fossil beds. I never thought of redwoods in Colorado so interesting to see the petrified trees.

Great location if you are in the area. Upon arrival we got to see the mountain blue birds flying near the parking lot. Prices seemed reasonable but we used our National Park Annual pass for free entrance. The ranger gave us a small brief regarding...More

If you are interested in fossils, geology or nice landscapes, this monument will deliver. The sustainably designed visitor center is only a few years old and has very well done displays. The displays weren't too dumbed down like some. The video is also worthwhile. If...More

How tough of a hike is this if you have health issues? My husband and I would both love to see the petrified trees, but we both have some health concerns unfortunately and we're trying to determine if it's worth it to make a stop here when we're in Colorado in June. Thanks!

Some of the trees are just out of the back door of the visitors center. The terrain is fairly flat, so walking the trails shouldn't be that much of a problem. There is another attraction there not far from the visitor center... More
