The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", Gettysburg was the Civil War's bloodiest battle and was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address".

If you are in the area you must see this battle ground. This is an important part of American history. It’s 24 square miles long. To really see it good and the museum, it would take about 3 days. I’ve got 2 more days to...More

I had not been to the battlefield since I was a kid. We decided to take a weekend trip. Went to the museum and enjoyed that. We decided to buy the automobile CD/book to tour the battle field. You can take a tour bus or...More

I have 3 young boys and they were fascinated by all the stuff we got to do. They thought it was fun to fill out the junior ranger program.

The self-guided tour is interesting, cheaper and more flexible than the bus tour. It is a trail around the areas where the decisive battles of Civil War took place. There are statues, cannons and observation towers around the town. I suggest taking the tour early,...More

Park in the car park for the visitor centre and purchase your CD and book from the gift shop (around $39). You then use the CD and the audio tour signs to drive around this remarkable estate. The history is profound and the setting beautiful.

Amazing telling of our painful history. It gives you perspective from all sides. Hopefully, we can still learn from this. Give yourself plenty of time to really take in all that this park has to offer.

We have lived in Gettysburg for the past two years. We use to visit very often, but living here has not diminished the sense of historical importance in the area. The Park is well maintained and offers some very good activities through most of the...More

Every time I go I learn something new and FEEL the history of this battlefield. The state monuments are beautiful and I appreciate the monuments that some now question... They tell a story

The Gettysburg battlefield is an awe-inspiring and humbling place, if you allow it to be. Take the time to orient yourself to the battlefield, listen to an audio tour (or guided tour), and put yourself into the past.

you receive discounts on those ticket prices if you're a senior and a member of the armed forces. Also I believe veterans. the pass you speak of is more for access fees like the fees to enter example petersburg.
