We went on New Years Eve. We just happened to arrive in time for the fireworks display. Fireworks are set off at the Delaware Waterfront, but there is a great view of them from here. Then every half hour there is a light show with lights set to music. We watched the light show while waiting in line for the... More

We were walking most of the time in Philadelphia and found this park as a nice place to spend some time to relax and stretch ourselves. Otherwise there is nothing great about this park, which had people from all races/religions - a good thing to see in the US!

Fun activities with a historic theme. Mini golf and fabulous lights. Seasonal activites and easy access to other sites in the area. A great place to take a break in the midst of the city.

When you approach the Benjamin Franklin Bridge at 5th and Vine Streets in Center City east, near Independence Mall, you will spot a 101 ft., 60 ton stainless steel sculpture pointing up towards the sky but safely secured to the ground with strong steel cables so as to remain steady in fickle weather. How did this sculpture get to Franklin... More

A walk around the city would not be complete without a stop at the carousel in Franklin Square. The animals are unique, and the operator is very friendly.

I know Franklin Square has had a massive overhaul in recent years from a rundown no-man's land to a lively park space, but, especially at Christmas time, it just doesn't stand up to the other big "Christmas Sights" in the city. I find the displays somewhat "tacky" and overwhelming. We nicknamed the flashing light display around the fountain "the seizure-inducing... More

Now that the holidays are here, there are a plethora more reasons to be in Philadelphia. Franklin Square becomes a magical place illuminated with over 50,000 lights set to the sounds of the Philadelphia Pops. Treats for the eyes, the nose, and the taste buds! Bring the kids or be a kid again! Great for everyone.

We went here on a cold Saturday afternoon. Our two sons (5 and 2) loved the playground, which has apparatuses for a range of ages. We also rode the carousel. We'll come back for the mini golf and food from Square Burger. Easy walk from Independence Park and from the Patco/SEPTA line at 8th & Market.

Thank Geoffrey S
