I know Franklin Square has had a massive overhaul in recent years from a rundown no-man's land to a lively park space, but, especially at Christmas time, it just doesn't stand up to the other big "Christmas Sights" in the city. I find the displays somewhat "tacky" and overwhelming. We nicknamed the flashing light display around the fountain "the seizure-inducing... More

Now that the holidays are here, there are a plethora more reasons to be in Philadelphia. Franklin Square becomes a magical place illuminated with over 50,000 lights set to the sounds of the Philadelphia Pops. Treats for the eyes, the nose, and the taste buds! Bring the kids or be a kid again! Great for everyone.

Over rated .. The carousel is $3 a person buy 4 get one free. They don't play the music cause the holiday music is playing in the park.. The train is not a real train on tracks.. It's a go cart pulling wagons.. Also over priced.. Yes the lights are nice not fantastic.. They do a musical show every half... More

We went here on a cold Saturday afternoon. Our two sons (5 and 2) loved the playground, which has apparatuses for a range of ages. We also rode the carousel. We'll come back for the mini golf and food from Square Burger. Easy walk from Independence Park and from the Patco/SEPTA line at 8th & Market.

The park was not overly crowded and was spot on for my 6 year old. She really enjoyed the playground, carousal and the mini golf. The mini golf was small and basi but highlighted all the Philadelphia landmarks which was cool.

Philadelphia has many urban oases for relaxing while on tour. Do not miss the Old City park of Franklin Square. The park is green and spacious with plenty of seating. It also has a mini golf course and a carousel at cost but a fountain for free. I highly recommend a visit to Franklin Square for a short break of... More

What a lovely place away from the hustle and bustle to bring your children. We played mini golf, which was a really basic course, but my 6 year old daughters absolutely loved it. They also enjoyed a ride on the carousel at the park. Nothing THAT exciting, but I suppose for a small child it is. Afterward, they enjoyed playing... More

Jump out of your car and take a picture and then move on- lots to see in this city. The Franklin square area gets bus and cops love to ticket - watch parking meter wars?
