Originally The Schubert, this 100 year old theatre retains much of its original charm and some of its quirks. The seating in the balcony can be tight. If possible I would aim for orchestra seating. It seats about 1800 people but seems very intimate. Each...More

There is a lot to like about the theatre. The lobby is large and airy and staff is friendly and helpful. The ticket pricing is quite reasonable. However, the sound at our second row tickets was very poor. The two opening comedians were so poorly...More

We attended a performance of Mama Mia last December. It was my first time in the theater. It has great sight lines but I found the seating and rows very cramped and I'm not a crazy tall or extra large guy. You will love it.

Saw Dirty Dancing with my wife at the Merriam Theater. Been there before because of the excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere. Great sound for concerts. This was no different as the play was very good and entertaining. We had good seats, 4th row balcony and...More

Took our granddaughter to a Saturday matinee performance of Shen Yun which she loved! The theater was easy to access and is a beautiful old building with great architectural details that definitely give you the feeling of days gone by. Only complaint is that the...More

Saw Shen Yun. Though we were in upper level, could see quite well. But had to walk down steps, and there were no rails. My ambulation is a bit shaky right now, and I was more than a little nervous walking down without having anything...More

The Merriam Theater located at the Academy of Music, Kimmel Center is way past it's prime. The seats are close together with practically no leg room. The "hike," to the basement for the restrooms is not to to be taken lightly. Once you go down...More

The theatre is pretty nice and intimate. We really enjoyed the Shen Yun performance there. However, both by wife and I were unhappy with the uncomfortable seats in the orchestra area. Perhaps the cushions are worn through after many years of accommodating patrons.

We liked the atmosphere. The seats are very small and not much leg room. The bathrooms on the balcony floor are the tiniest I have ever seen.

They are on the third level. While the theater itself is small, every seat is relatively close, but they are the farthest seats from the stage. Go for the balcony next time. The first 4-5 rows are awesome.
