I went to Sunday Mass and afterwards enjoyed looking around the church and adjacent historic cemetery, reading the plaques which describe the association with the history of our country. Convenient location, easy to add to your walking tour.

We were fortunate in being invited to a mass for a wedding in this amazing church. It is absolutely beautiful! There is so much history in this church. This is where the founding fathers dedicated the Declaration of Independence. Yes, it has been there that long--and longer! The paintings are spectacular, along with the starry sky on the ceiling. Old St Mary's cannot be accessed aside from Mass, but it's still worth peeking through the doors. The stained glass windows are exceptional, especially the one over the altar. The cemetery in the back is the final resting place of Commodore John Barry.

It's right in the midst of Society Hill, and it has its own history as one of the oldest Catholic churches in the US. There is a small cemetery next door worth seeing, and the church itself is lovely; it's got a starry sky painted on the ceiling.

Marked as a historical landmark, it still functions for weddings today. I am always eager to see old beautiful churches and Philadelphia has many. Rich in history, it lacks nothing on the interior. Nestled on the side of the church, is the church graveyard where prominent people rest in peace; naming one-Commodore Barry(Commodore Barry Bridge). Located off Market St., head... More

Catholic churches are always on my list of places to visit when I am traveling. This one is not only beautiful, but very historical. On the wall outside the church is a sign that states this was where the early leaders of our country held the first public religious commemoration of the Declaration of Independence. In attendance was the Continental... More
