the house is now empty due to a loss of sponsorship but the tour guide was super honest and told some very interesting stories about the house, grounds, history, and the few furnishings that were left. a caretaker lives in part of the house that is closed to visitors.

House with beautiful views and layout. Striped of furniture for ,I hope renovation. Exterior needs lots of help. Grounds are a shame. Grass is cut, what little there is. Docents were excellent, but not much to show. Hope to go back when in better condition. Would have been nice if some panels describing what is to be done or a... More

Lemon Hill was the first property purchased by the City to keep the City water supply clean. It is located on a hill overlooking the City and was built about 1800 as a summer home by a Philly prosperous merchant. Furnishings are typical of the time but not original to the property. Lemon Hill mansion, the southernmost of the jewels of Fairmount Park was built in 1800, and meant to be seen from the Schuylkill River. Our docents were sweet and knowledgeable and the rooms were beautifully decorated for the holidays. A light snack was included as well.

Its not very often that you meet a Education Director / Docent like Ms. Joyce Jones and I am very honored that we did on Sun June 08, 2014 when we visited Lemon Hill. Joyce is a fountain of knowledge re: Lemon Hill and the historical surrounding of the property, the Pratt Family and so much more. We received a... More

For two long weekends in 2013 - December 5- 8 and December 12 - 15, there are 6 historic mansions which are located in Fairmount Park decorated for Christmas and open for tours. Lemon Hill was one of the best of the six, but they were all beautiful. These mansions are also open throughout the year, but the time to... More
