I admit to enjoying roaming college campuses and Penn offers visitors one of the most scenic ones to wander. The buildings, open spaces, slight hills, active students, and statues combine to make the campus special.

How did Alexander Liberman’s Covenant, Claes Oldenburg’s Split Button, Robert Indiana’s Love sculpture and Dennis Oppenheim’s Wave Forms come to be displayed on the Penn campus? Intrigued, I went to explore. Until the expansion of the University of Pennsylvania from a commuter to a residential college, Benjamin Franklin, sitting on a bench in the center of the campus, reigned supreme... More

This campus is packed with art of all sorts. We saw fountains, statues, murals. All these were quite available to the public, as they are outside. The landscaping was also attractive. There is also an Art Museum on campus. It is quite extensive. Make sure to allow enough time to enjoy the exhibits here.

Bookstore is great to go hangout for a cup of coffee and a treat. It was great to go on Jan 20 because it was raining. Good selection of items for what you might need.

Staying on campus is fine but once you leave the protected zone of the University you are in a high crime area without much to do.

Except for the old historic part of campus, which is now just a small part of this gargantuan monolith -- faceless building after faceless building owned by Penn now dominates the sprawl here -- it's just not worth a visit, especially if you only have a limited amount of time. There are SO many other far culturally and historically richer... More

Penn is a great Ivy League university and it is well worthwhile to spend an hour on campus. We recommend the Mutter Museum and the Archaeology and Anthropology Museum.

Escape the city bustle to meander around the U of P campus. The paths wind around the variety of architecture and art sculptures. Observe the passersby from any number of benches. Depending upon the season there are always activities outside. ICA-Institute of Contemporary Art- and Annenberg Theater offer cultural events. Plenty of cafes and shops plus some nearby restaurants to... More

I am from Pennsylvania and regularly visit Philadelphia to dine or shop. I did not visit the University of Pennsylvania for the first time until this year. I did not realize it was only a 5 minute walk from the train station. I would get off the train a catch a cab to Rittenhouse square. There is something special about... More
