Beautiful museum, laid out well with lots of space between exhibits to view without bumping into others. The rooms were a bit warm, but overall the visit made up for the temperature.

Exhibits were definitely more scholarly than most museums. Would have liked to have seen more, but considering the museum belongs to an academic institution, it was worthwhile. Favorite part was the Far East gallery. Did not get a chance to do the Midas exhibit, but had a great time.

This is a world class museum for lovers of anthropology. I love to take my grandchildren here to see the collections from various cultures. Of course, they always want to see the mummy collections first.

The Penn is a compact MMA from NYC. It is much more manageable in a visit of hours, while the MMA requires days. The Penn is like a generous sampler, with sufficient scope and depth to satisfy most art and history interests. It does not overwhelm, but, entertains and educates, and, sometimes, less is more.

I would have rated this venue five stars but it was outrageous what they changed for their parking. Having to pay twelve dollars on the weekend was over the top. Then you add the admission costs and extra for the Midas exhibit it was very expensive for a couple hours. The exhibits were very well done. The Egyptian area brought... More

My visit to the Penn Museum was part of an evening business event. The venue was lit beautifully with food and drinks presented in the auditorium area. Music groups were in the entrance way and the Egyptian exhibit area. Guests were able to enjoy food and drink in safer areas and then wander through the exhibits throughout the evening. There... Many interesting artifacts at his museum, including Egyptian mummy related items, Ancient Greek and Asian statues. Good place to visit while in Philadelphia.

I come here every 3-4 months. I end up spending a good 5 hours each time. The Egyptian section is especially good.

The Penn Museum is in University City (West Philly) and has fascinating collections from ancient civilizations - Assyrian, Persian, Egyptian, Etruscan, Greek, Roman, etc. You could spend all day touring the galleries with well-done displays. A special exhibition, "The Golden Age of King Midas," runs until November 27, 2016. It contains statuary, jewelry, furniture and more unearthed from tombs. You... More
