A very nice smart area with shopping streets and Cafes in the square and surrounding streets. If you wander South of the square away from Downtown, about three blocks you start to see some very nice residential areas if you have time.

Beautiful green space with lots of shade and clean pathways. There isn't much to do here but its a nice place to walk through or just hangout and relax.

Pleasant weather this weekend and restaurants and a Barnes and Nobles books store across the streets. Needs some work and policing, but similar to much a Philadelphia with a mixed bag of tourists on the weekend and poor people looking for help or to use...More

Walking with dear European friends and their dog to the farmer's market, I felt transported to Germany. The near by shops with fantastic bakery, butcher shop, we got everything we needed for an incredibly fresh meal and a great walk as well.

Simply the most elegant of neighborhoods in Philly. If you cannot afford the Rittenhouse Hotel, stay at any one of a number nearby. We like the Warwick and have stayed at the W and both are very nice and a short couple of blocks to...More

Reminiscent of Washington Sq Park in Manhattan but right-sized and mode civilized, Rittenhouse makes for a delightful hour, two or three on a pleasant day. Loads of people watching, people reading, sunning, walking, lazing...everyone having a wonderful time. On days with a farmer's market, there's...More

Very nice, scenic park. A great place to sit, rest, and people watch. There are also a lot of shops, restaurants, and cafe's nearby. I recommend Joe's. Very good iced coffee!

The Square is a lovely site in the middle of the city. Nice to walk around and take it easy. There are lots of stores and restaurants here.

Philadelphia is full of amazing history, art, music, universities, and restaurants - Rittenhouse Square is part of this. Be aware that there is a significant population of less fortunate individuals who are just about everywhere. The sadness of what we witnessed definitely impacted our trip...More

I have stayed at the Sofitel several times and have been satisfied. This does not overlook the square, but is a short walk.

I would recommend Devon Seafood and Grill. It has the best fish dishes in the Philadelphia area. Charming atmosphere.
