This is an old Episcopal church in Philadelphia just a few blocks from Penn's Landing at the end of Market Street. According to the history, the church was founded in 1695 as a parish of the Church of England and later became founding of the Protestant Episcopal Church. in the United States. In the early days the tower and the steeple was the tallest structure in USA. Due to COVID-19, the church was closed for public but you can walk around and takes photos for memories of piece of US history.…

History comes alive in a Church that was essentially our national cathedral during the Revolutionary War. Sit where Washington and Franklin sat. Touch historical treasures. The tour guides know there stuff. Must see in Philly!

You could easily walk right past this place for years without appreciating it's deep history and significance to the area. If you have a founding father, he spent time here and likely has a story to be shared by the knowledgable staff. It's also a great place to come for some peace and quiet in the middle of a huge city. Rennovations are almost done and this place deserves a visit if you're a fan of Philly/American history. …

We spent a good hour in the church hearing stories about Washington, Franklin, what it was like to live and work as a woman/man in the Colonial era. Our tour guide was generous, detail oriented and very interesting. Thank you!

Yet another location in Philadelphia with an amazing amount of history that cannot be missed. Very interesting to take in everything at Christ Church, including the actual pews where George Washington, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and many of our nation's other founding fathers and mothers sat while attending church services - and the story behind why they had their own pews. Just amazing to sit for a few minutes and think that the church has been fully-functioning for 300+ years. Ranks a close second to Independence Hall in my book in terms of must-see locations in Philadelphia.…
