Fantastic contrast and an easy hike. Get there early because it is a first stop for many and the lot fills up. Light day pack a couple liters of water, hat, snacks and a camera and you are good to go. Great views and some tight spaces but it's fune easy and a great way to see Death Valley up... More

This is one of the most popular hikes in DV, and for good reason. One can get nice views without a lot of effort, although hiking all the way to the end is a bit strenuous. Late morning through mid-afternoon are the best times for photos, but the parking lot fills quickly. Toilets are available at the parking lot.

The hike was good, but our National Park Ranger leader on March 21, who is in Death Valley from one of the Alaska national parks, and then moving on in a few months, was outstanding!! Her enthusiasm and discussion made the hike totally worthwhile. Cannot remember her name, but do not miss her if you can.

Great set of 3 hikes to turn into a loop trail. Awesome views from every angle, especially from the top of Red Cathedral. Be careful of loose rock on some sections, and slippery rock on others. The middle part is packed sand, steep up and then down again, and it is very hot. The section of Glower Gulch between the... More

Very interesting hike. Climbs up and up, until you are walking along a narrow edge and a potentially very long slide down, if you do not watch your step. But the scenery is fantastic and well worth the scary moments. The long way down is also interesting, especially as it is on much safer ground.

March 7, 2017. We were looking for something different to do during our 3 week stay in Las Vegas. We decided to try driving to California, when we looked at the map we figured Death Valley was not too far away and would be a great place to see some desert scenery. It took us about 2.5 hours to get... More

Didn't know about this place, but pulled in when we saw the sign. Good thing to, The canyon was colorful and great place for more pic's. Winding canyon with lots of rocks to climb. Even shaded in most place's. Great stop.

we started at 8 from the parking lot to walk the 6,9 / 2 hrs loop in combining the golden canyon and gower gulch walks.. most flat apart from climbing a little hill below manly beacon. you will walk partly in the shade at this hour, but bring water and a hat. the views are unbelievable and the colors of... you can make this hike as short or long (8ish miles) as you want. I recommend doing the badlands loop, and do it counter-clockwise for best views of the valley. This hike will be HOT if done in the summer.
