Really a great spot to visit and learn more about an important Spanish explorer. The trails and displays are very well done and Desoto point provides a beautiful seaside view on the Manatee River and looking west is the Gulf of Mexico.

Just finished having a picnic with my wife and our dog on the white sandy trail overlooking the boats going by on the Manatee River. Be sure to snap a photo or two for the memories. Beautiful!

Enjoyed a quiet walk in the DeSoto National Memorial. Surrounded by so much beauty and peacefulness. I used to take my sons there often when they were younger. Now I enjoy it on my own.

I confess I knew little about DeSoto prior to my visit. The educational film (21 minutes) in the Visitor's Center was extremely informative as was the signage throughout the Memorial. Both NPS Park Rangers on duty were really helpful and happy to answer questions. The Memorial has plenty of parking and picnic tables inside the gates. There's no admission charge... More

Nicely done and informative. Check the calendar of events for the best experience. Very nice walking trails and excellent exhibits. This little park has a lot to offer and is good for many short visits for various activities. Gumbo-Limbo extraordinaire. Don't miss it ... as if you could.

Enjoyed walking around the ground & found all of the detailed history very informative. Would recommend this for couples as well as families with children.

This is one of the best national parks to go to. We love going by boat on our way to Anna Maria Island but just as easy to go by car. Lots of Bradenton and Florida history here.

We loved the park rangers informational talk on weaponry from this era. Also, always love the Jr park ranger program!

Just a small taste of the story of DeSoto. Great waterfront views and walking trails. Good way to spend and afternoon outside

This is a favorite place to go on my own or with dogs. The trails are mostly shaded and follow the Manatee River with benches in some nice places to rest and take in the scenery. There are a few picnic tables too. The trail loop is only about a mile so it's easy to walk and very tranquil. There's... More
