This little gem is worth a stop if your nearby. The trail is short and very shaded. If you’re a history buff you’ll love learning about DeSoto - be sure to catch the movie. Dog friendly and a great place to picnic.

Has an interesting history film, an interpretive museum, a recreated small Indian village for outdoor demonstrations, hiking trails and views. Not 100% the site where DeSoto landed, but an educated guess and a memorial to this event.

this is a great hidden gem in NW Bradenton. If you are in town visiting it is worth the drive here. Beautiful views of the water and a guided walking tour with a lot of history.

Interesting film on De Soto. Nice hiking around the grounds. It’s Florida, so visiting in the summer will be hot. Lots of birds and water creatures along the hike to monument and large cross. Plenty of tables for a picnic lunch.

Best place in the county. Staff and Rangers are awesome. Lots to do and beautiful scenery. Winter is best with living history. Kayak tours are great but book at least one month in advance.

DeSoto Park is the place to be to take a pleasant walk to enjoy nature & water. Several trails to use & always a different view...you feel peaceful & tranquil...not a strenuous walk.
