Impressive River

The Rogue River is an impressive site. It has some very turbulent waters and is very picturesque. Lots of campgrounds along its banks.

This is a great picture of Crater Lake Wizard Island in full view. It was absolutely spectacular. We spent hours there.

There are 2 places well worth stopping on your way to/from Crater Lake. Rogue River Gorge is a lava formation which the Rogue River churns through--it is unique. The area is well signed and has good paths/view points. Natural Bridge is just down the road where the river runs underneath some of the lava. There is a well built path... More

At the suggestion of friends, we visited two spots on the Rogue River when driving from the South Rim toward Medford. One was a narrow gorge where the water carved its way through rock via rapids and waterfalls. The second was even more spectacular where the river disappeared for ~ 100 yd. into a lava tube and then came heaving... More

We followed the rogue river on OR-62 from Shady Cove, OR to Crater Lake National Forest. It skipped and flowed over rocks in some places and opened up into a wide thoroughfare for boaters. It was beautiful as it changed and went underground then came up again. There is all kinds of camping along it in State Parks and RV... More

We passed through this area on a long day of thru-driving without time to explore many of the sights, but decided to make a stop and pull over at the Rogue River Gorge interpretive site on the Crater Lake highway (62) to stretch our legs and relieve the dog. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful scenery and nicely maintained... More

The Rogue is such a beautiful river, but right now the water level is lower than I've ever seen it. The decline in rainfall and snow in Oregon the past couple of years are having a heart-rending effect. Spring rafting was diminished, so summer rafting may be a rarity. Nevertheless, what remains of the river is beautiful, as always.

This has to be the most beautiful place I have visited. Just being there and seeing it is so impressive. It's like looking at a beautiful portrait.

There are lots of access point to this river and you just have to find one. Stay at a hotel, camp out out just hang out for lunch it is a good place to take a break from the road and get the kids ready for more travel.
