The Yorktown beach is a wonderful place for families with kids. There is a protected area for swimming. The whole area is great for families and the beach is just the icing on the cake!

Went in the dead of summer and it was busy, but not horrible. Some cute restaurants. Great place to cool off.

The beach gets crowded, so my suggestion is to arrive early. The water sadly had jelly fish this summer, so I did not partake in Stand Up Paddle Boarding. The beach is quite small. Visitors often leave it a mess.

When you visit Yorktown VA you don’t envision quiet beach coves, and a beautiful paved pathway along the riverfront, but that’s what you will find! Amid the historical battlefield, museums and homes there is a lovely river walk, marina and beach complete with shops and...More

By far one of the best beaches to go to. Small and quant. Very family orientated. Nothing is better than listen to the sounds of music on the beach or going to the farmers market and seeing the tall sail ships. Checking out the stores...More

This is a beautiful spot. The beach is incredibly clean. It made for a great day of fun in the sun and sand. I am really glad we made the trip. The swimming areas are perfect.

I imagine it closes at dusk, though I have seen people walking on the beach at night. Swimming at night is never wise.

I saw a couple of people with them, even splashing in the water. I am not sure what the rule is, but no one seemed to mind. Great place! Beware of jellyfish!

No waves. It's on the York River, not the bay or ocean.
