Free close parking, free beach access, free fishing pier, no fishing license required. Nice place to walk about. Picturesque. Nice drive there from Williamsburg on the parkway. Some shopping and resturants on the water. Quite small beach area. On a large river, not the ocean

There are several areas of sandy beach and calm, clean water safe enough for families with small children. Parking, restaurants and restrooms are all within walking distance. Fishing opportunities available in shade and sun -- under the bridge or on the pier. A great trip...More

The Yorktown beach area has a nice walk along the York River. There are shops and restaurants and a beach area. Benches to sit and relax. Great place to visit and relax.

We strolled through the town alongside the beach and it seemed a very restful place with families, some with young children, enjoying the sunshine. The walk ran very close alongside the beach but did not seem to impinge on the enjoyment of those sitting on...More

I would get there early so you get a good parking spot. I liked how close it was to parking and restrooms.

My wife and I happened across this area about three weeks ago and have returned twice. Parking is free, The trolley is free. The beach is free. There are free bathrooms. In today's world of everything costing something, this was a real relief. The beach...More

Being a beach lover, I don't consider this a beach. It is very small and you swim in the bay, not the ocean. There are interesting shops and restaurants to visit while here.

We like to take our young kids to this beach because there are no waves and parking is usually close by. There is a grassy area near the beach where you can picnic, grill out, play games, or just get in the shade for a...More

My family enjoyed Yorktown Beach this year more than Virginia Beach. It was not too crowded and the water was perfect. Restrooms are always clean and parking is free. It was a perfect day.

Matthew (above) answered your ? Quite thoroughly. Though I might add, the beach upriver has no lifeguards and I would emphasize the boat traffic is also more congested there. Also sea nettles might be a problem if you don't... More

The beach swim area is marked by buoys. It is fairly modest in size. The river will have a lot of boating traffic on the 4th of July weekend and would not be safe for a swim of that length for most people. In calm weather... More

I have never rented a kayak there but since it is on a river there should be several places to rent kayaks. The river itself is beautiful and each time I've been there it's been calm. HOpe you go and enjoy youself.
