My husband and I were part of a tour that went to Jamestown and Yorktown. We saw the battlefield that ended the war of independence. The monument with lady liberty at the top is so impressive. We experienced a surge of extreme pride in our country, Such an awesome experience!!

This is a great place full of great history. There really is so much to see and experience. There are plenty of different canons around the place. We also saw a mortar from 1681 with a plaque that stated it was still serviceable until 1781. We saw the living quarters inside the ships back then which was quite interesting. We... More

The Museum has very interesting artifacts and recreation of a ship, but the highlight was the waking tour with Park Ranger Linda. She made history come alive and included information that isn't usually found in history books.

Deeply moving, if you get the right park ranger. Linda, our ranger, made it real, relevant, personal and real time, she was fantastic. We did the battlefield guided tour at the center and then bought the CD for the driving tour. When she finished it made you proud to know our ancestors fought so hard for our freedom.

If you love history and want to see a key part as to how we became a country, visit here. Be sure to view the video, which describes the key battles and maneuvers. Visit the small musuem which has artifacts of the battle including tent that George Washington had as his headquarters. If time permits visit the Moore house (about... More

Any American historian or amateur American history buff must visit Yorktown once. This is where America's independence was solidified. The British fortifications are still in place and open to the public at no cost. The tour is a our ranks 1.5 hours if you also go through the visitor center. A new, more elaborate museum has been built and should... More

Admittedly, we didn't stay long, but the driving tour did an excellent job of giving access to the battlefield sites. I tend to like walking about the fields to get more of a feel for a place, but that didn't seem as reasonable here. Yes, there were some walking paths and you can walk in the fields, but you aren't... More

By walking the site, you can appreciate the fear that men might have had. Fighting was up close & personal. Glad we saw the film first. I'd known that the French had "helped" but not that they personally fought.

Spent a few hours at the Yorktown Battlefield on a Saturday. The weather was not the best but still things to see and do. Best to see the movie before going on a battlefield tour in our car. It was raining that day so we did not get out to go onto the battlefield at the 3 stops on the... More

Loved the driving tour of the battlefield. We bought the audio cd for the tour, definitely worth the $5.....lots of history and poignant spots. Spent about an hour going thru, but could have stayed there for hours more
