When we visit my sister-in-law in Camarillo we like to drive to Ventura for a brisk morning walk. The promenade is very scenic and is a good incentive to get our 10,000 steps. We ended up in town and stopped for breakfast.

We really enjoyed the pier, just a nice walk from the downtown area (parked near the visitor center) and watched surfers and the ocean waves. We then drove to the other side to the shopping village part but the stores were closed at 7-ish.

Driving down on the way to LA, we stopped over at Pismo Beach but it was under renovation so we stopped over at the Ventura Pier. I love the fact that there is a restaurant right on the pier with inexpensive items to munch on.

We loved the pier it gave great history lesson about this thing. It was peaceful, it seemed like locals enjoyed going for an evening stroll. It was cold though (not the piers fault). But it walked us through why and when the pier was built...More

Memorial day weekend is a nice day to visit the pier and promenade, provided you time it right to avoid any special events, like running. US Flags adorn the pier. Clean air and family safe area in general, North side has wide beaches at low...More
