This place has been heavily gentrified. Think it's lost a lot of the grit it had until recently, however this is a very nice area to walk around, bars and restaurants abound and the area is very pretty. Tomkins sq park in the area is...More

We stayed in Av C during our NYC vacations, and it was a great option. It was close by to many bars and clubs, as well as Williamsburg Bridge (which we crossed walking). You can visit SoHo, Little Italy and China Town easily from there.

We stayed on Avenue C during our NY stay and loved it. Felt like we were living in NY rather than just visiting. Always something interesting to either see or experience. Loved, Loved, Loved staying here. Definitely not a tourist area which is why we...More

Visit Alphabet City if you enjoy going to small divey bars. This area is also known for the good collection and variety of restaurants.

Actually stayed near Tompkins Square Park during my visit. Loved it !!! All the amenities are practically stone throw away from each other, you don't even need to venture out too far. From restaurants to bars to vintage shopping to pharmacies to 24hr delis, all...More

It was nice to walk around in the Alphabet City. It is different than the center of Manhattan, in the sense that it is much more quiter and without the presence of tourists. There is not any major attraction to see, so you can go...More

This is an interesting, fun part of town. It used to be dangerous back in the 1980's, but with Mayor Guliani cleaning every place up and the rising rent markets, it is a sanitized version of what it was 25 to 30 years ago. It...More

There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village,
which offers plenty of unique small businesses
catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college
students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the
old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still
experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned
shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of
the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to
