It closes way before midnight, but it's still an excellent place to see the city the night of New Year's Eve. Times Square and the ball were easily visible and the Empire State Building was lit up in a rainbow of colors.

Decided to go to the Top of the Rock at night. No queueing no crowds, just a brilliant experience. Can't fault the Staff, who were friendly and helpful, when needed. I would certainly recommend a visit to the Rock.

Nice view even on a cloudy day. It was cold but enjoyable. Lines moved quickly and it wasn't crowded.

We were told by relatives, that the best time to go up, is around sunset and watch all the city lights turn on. We booked our tickets closest to this time, unfortunately because of the sheer amount of people, by the time we got up,...More

We had a 3:15 pm slot. Hot in line at 3:00 and with th lines and everything, actually got up to the top at 4:30. So I guess doable in 2 hours, but tight. Granted this was over Christmas Break so had heavy crowds.
